Harveys History

The good news, for some Dallas old-timers, is that Harvey Gough is back serving hamburgers. The bad news, for some Dallas old-timers, is that he’s only slightly mellowed since the last time he was in business.

Harvey served up burgers and insults at a small chain of Goff’s Hamburger joints for decades. The first restaurant was opened by his parents in 1950. Harvey took over in 1973. His places served charcoal burgers along with hot dogs, secret sauces, delicious sides and shakes.

But Harvey was famous – or notorious – for dishing out backtalk with his grub. Long before Seinfeld had his "soup Nazi" character, Harvey was barking at his customers.
